About

Catholic Pilgrimages of Hope for Creation (Sept. 1 to Oct. 4)

As we celebrate the Jubilee of Hope, the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’, and the 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of the Creatures, we hear a Spirit-filled call to renew our relationship with God, with one another, and with all of creation.

To mark this holy season, Catholic organizations across the United States are uniting to support pilgrims like you in planning or joining a Jubilee pilgrimage during the Season of Creation, taking place from September 1-October 4, 2025.

Tools for Hosting

Let’s walk together on this path of hope and healing. There’s so much to celebrate—join the movement and make this Jubilee year one of faith, action, and care for our common home.

By journeying through our local nature — whether forests, rivers, parks, or urban spaces — we can witness God’s presence in the world around us and renew our commitment to protecting and preserving the beauty of creation for future generations. But sometimes, these pilgrimages also make us aware of the ways we have harmed God’s gift of Creation by the destruction going on in our communities, inspiring us to do more.

Join us in this sacred mission to live out the teachings of Jesus, St. Francis, and Pope Francis, taking practical steps to heal the planet and restore the balance between humanity and the natural world. Together, we can make a lasting impact by responding to the urgent call to safeguard the Earth as our common home.

A Milestones Year for Catholicism

The Jubilee Year

The 2025 Jubilee Year offers a unique opportunity to deepen our spiritual connection to the Earth through prayer, reflection, and action. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical on the environment, which calls for an integral ecology that honors both the natural world and the dignity of every human person. In the spirit of Laudato Si’, we are committed to advancing a culture of care for our common home, tackling the climate crisis, and fostering a deep respect for the earth’s resources and ecosystems.

The 800th Anniversary of the Canticle of the Creatures

The 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of the Creatures reminds us of the profound relationship between humanity and the natural world. St. Francis, the patron saint of ecology, taught us to see all of creation as a reflection of God’s love, calling us to care for the Earth as a sacred trust. His timeless message of ecological stewardship continues to inspire us today.
